Dear Reader,

Welcome to the newest edition of the PANDAS Network Newsletter! As spring unfolds, we’re excited to share opportunities to learn, connect, and advocate together. Whether you’re a parent seeking answers or a young person ready to share your journey, there’s something here for you.

Let’s dive in!

Upcoming Webinar: Understanding PANDAS and Sydenham Chorea: How Strep Triggers Different Symptoms: An Immunological Perspective.

Date: Tuesday, May 6, 2025
Time: 2:30 PM EST
Featuring: Chandra Menendez, PhD

PANDAS and Sydenham chorea both stem from an autoimmune response to a Group A Strep infection, commonly known as strep throat. In this webinar, Dr. Chandra Menendez, a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center, will share her latest findings in clear, non-technical language. She’ll reveal why some children with PANDAS/PANS experience severe, uncontrollable whiplash-like symptoms known as Sydenham chorea, while others develop tics or obsessive-compulsive behaviors, offering fresh insights into these complex conditions.

This will be a wonderful opportunity to learn about what might be driving PANDAS/PANS symptoms and also a chance to ask Dr. Menendez your most pressing questions during a Q&A session. So make sure you put this on your calendar and join the webinar early as we are capping attendance to the first 100 people!

The National PANDAS/PANS Youth Alliance is Looking for Youth Stories

Are you a young person who’s faced PANDAS or PANS? The National PANDAS/PANS Youth Alliance is collecting stories from kids, teens, and young adults to build a powerful digital collection of PANDAS/PANS experiences.

Why share? Your voice can help raise awareness, push for better insurance coverage nationwide, and unite youth on their paths to recovery. As a volunteer-led group, we’re committed to supporting the hundreds of thousands of kids affected by these conditions—and it starts with stories like yours!
